Terms and Conditions

These terms apply to SoundMyText on every platform: the website and the web app at soundmytext.com, and the apps for iPhone and iPad, Android, macOS and Windows. By using SoundMyText you accept them.

What SoundMyText does

SoundMyText reads the documents you add aloud with AI-generated voices. The audio is made from your text when you first play it and kept, so you can listen again.

Your documents

Your documents remain yours. You allow us to store them and to send their text to our speech services only to provide SoundMyText to you. Add only documents you have the right to use, and nothing illegal.

Credits

Making new audio uses credits; how many depends on the speech model you choose. Playing audio that has already been made is free, and so are the guides we provide.

Do not try to get free credits more than once, for example by reinstalling, using emulators or automating sign-ups. We may withhold free credits or suspend devices and accounts that do.

Payments and cancelling

The price and what it includes are shown before you pay. On the website and in the desktop apps downloaded from it, payments are handled by Stripe and the subscription is billed in advance for each month. You can cancel at any time in Settings → Credits → Manage subscription; it then runs until the end of the month you paid for and is not renewed. We do not refund partial months or credits already used, except where the law requires it. If a payment fails, no new credits are added until it is settled.

Purchases in the App Store, Google Play or the Microsoft Store are billed, managed and refunded by that store under its own terms; for the App Store, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Where the store’s terms and these differ, the store’s terms take precedence for those purchases.

We will announce price changes in advance; they apply from the next period after the announcement.

Generated voices

The voices are generated by AI. They may mispronounce words or make other mistakes. The audio is for your own listening: do not present it as the voice of a real person or use it to mislead anyone.

Your account

Signing in with Google or Apple is optional. You are responsible for the account you sign in with. You can delete your SoundMyText account at any time in Settings → Account.

Ownership

SoundMyText, its design and its code belong to us. It also uses third-party fonts, icons and software under their own licences, listed under Licenses.

No warranty

We do our best to keep SoundMyText working, but we do not promise that it will be free of errors or available at all times, or that every document can be read correctly.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from SoundMyText. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by law.
